Applying For Disability

Unlike some other Social Security Disability law firms, we represent a majority of our clients at the application stage. There are no additional fees provide this service, it is our belief that we are able to "paint a better picture" if we get involved at the beginning. We offer this service because we care about people who cannot work due to disabling conditions and illnesses.

Keep in mind that the person who will initially review your case is a government bureaucrat, not a doctor, nurse, lawyer or paralegal. That person is spending little time reviewing your claim, your work history and the pain questionnaire. For these reasons, there is a high probability that your initial claim will be denied, despite the assistance we provide. Even in the cases in which we file the initial application, we expect that approximately two-thirds of the cases will be denied. We understand that in most cases we will likely be building the case to present to a judge. So the documentation and medical evidence we provide at each stage of your case will ultimately be reviewed and evaluated by the Administrative Law Judge in deciding your case.

How We Can Help

The real challenge begins after you have sent in your claim and you receive a denial letter. That's where our real work begins. We will file a Request for Reconsideration and begin collecting the medical evidence that will be key in a successful claim. Our lawyer Bruce Haught or representative will be by your side to represent you in the disability hearing, and present additional evidence and arguments concerning your mental and physical limitations that may affect your ability to work.

You Will Owe A Fee Only If You Get Benefits

Southeast Disability Advocates handles cases on contingency fee basis. You do not pay any fees or cost unless your case is approved, the fees will be paid by the government from your past due benefits. You will owe us nothing up front and nothing if we do not win your case. We will also advance costs for medical records and some medical reports. You will not be responsible for out of pocket expenses unless we win your case.
